One of our most powerful tools isn’t just obedience—it’s nervous system training disguised as structure. THE METHOD: STRUCTURED PLACE WORK We teach dogs to go to a specific mat, cot, or “place” and remain calmly in a down. But here’s the key—they are only rewarded when they are emotionally settled. We reinforce: Calm body posture (lying down, soft eyes, stillness) Acceptance of food (a sign of nervous system safety) Calm engagement with the environment Non-frantic social interactions Rewards include: food, affection, praise, and the comfort of predictability. TOOLS WE USE TO SUPPORT CALM We use a variety of training tools to help guide dogs toward calm behavior and emotional regulation. These tools are introduced thoughtfully and humanely, always with the dog’s long-term wellbeing in mind: Slip Leads – for communication and leash pressure guidance Prong Collars – to provide clear, low-level directional input and reduce pulling or frantic energy E-Collars (Mini Educator) – for advanced dogs, we may use low-level stimulation to help shape calm decision-making and reinforce boundaries from a distance These tools are not used to correct emotional states—they are used to create clarity, reduce frustration, and help the dog succeed in staying regulated.
